Pirates Broadcaster John Wehner: There Is Reason To Be Optimistic About 2015
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - Pittsburgh Pirates Broadcaster John Wehner joined Ron Cook Tuesday morning on "The Cook and Poni Show" to talk about the optimism of this Pirates team as they head south for Spring Training in just eight days.
"Pretty solid all around," Wehner said. "They have a very dangerous offense and no reason to think that starting rotation can't be really good."
Wehner says the offense was really good last season, despite almost nothing from Pedro Alavarez.
He thinks that if he can regain the form he had in 2013 this team has a chance to do some great things.
"Obviously, if he does rebound with the bat it becomes a great offensive team instead of a really good one," Wehener said. "On paper, this team is really good and they looked poised to take that next step."
Wehner thinks that the Pirates are likely to get some national attention from the people who make pre-season predictions as a favorite to win the division and make waves in the National League.
"I would think the Pirates are right up there with the front-runners," Wehner said. "The Pirates may have a better chance of anyone else of winning the division."
