Pirates Ace A.J. Burnett Discusses Mentoring, Success In Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) -- Pirates' starter A.J. Burnett joined Seibel, Starkey and Miller on Sportsradio 93-7 The FAN to talk about the season he has been having.
Before getting to what A.J. has done this year, we had the Pirates' ace tell us about how he has taken James McDonald under his wing and helped him take the next step everyone has been waiting for from him.
We also got into the pressure Burnett felt in New York compared to Pittsburgh, and he said it was more a case of him putting too much pressure on himself and always trying to make the perfect pitch.
A.J. also told us what it was like getting traded from the Yankees to the Pirates, and how he embraced the situation since the Pirates represented a team that really wanted him.
We wrapped things up with A.J. having him discuss the lineup hitting behind him, and whether or not it gets frustrating with such little run support.
