Pirate Fan Files Lawsuit Against Atlanta Braves
Atlanta, Ga. (KDKA/AP) - A Pittsburgh Pirate fan is filing a lawsuit against the Atlanta Braves for an attack on him by a group of six rowdy fans at Turner Field in 2008.
The incident allegedly left him with 11 teeth knocked out, a broken jaw and the aggressors left him in a pool of blood outside a restroom.
In the lawsuit, Elmer Collins of Macon, Ga. claims the stadium's security officers and ushers ignored his complaints about the assault during the April 2, 2008 game.
Collins is asking to be reimbursed at least $38,714 for medical costs. His attorney, Jon Hawk, said Collins has not had the money for surgery and has been drinking out of a straw.
Braves spokeswoman Beth Marshall says the organization is confident that its employees acted appropriately.
