Pharmacy Robbery Suspect Held For Trial
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - A former physician who is accused of stealing from a Castle Shannon pharmacy will be held for trial.
Patrick Sullivan, 37, of Mount Lebanon, is accused of stealing oxycodone, fentanyl, and syringes from the Lebanon Shops Pharmacy in three separate incidents.
A judge agreed to drop gun charges against Sullivan, who said he lost his license to practice because of a drug problem.
"Dr. Sullivan is a man that loves his family, he loves his life," Phil DiLucente, a defense attorney, said. "Unfortunately, he does have a problem – he has a problem with narcotics and he's trying to get help for them as we speak."
Sullivan was a resident physician at a West Virginia hospital before he got into trouble over drug activity. Police say he moved in with his parents near the Lebanon Shops Pharmacy.
He's accused of tunneling into the pharmacy through a concrete wall to get drugs. Then twice in October, he allegedly robbed the pharmacy at gunpoint.
The owner of the pharmacy did not want to be identified on camera, but he praised police for solving the case.
"It was having an impact on my employees, all my customers, everything like that," the owner said. "So, now that this guy's been apprehended, so we can now move on with our lives and move on with business."
The pharmacy has installed security cameras and hired a security guard.
Sullivan remains in the Allegheny County Jail without bond.
