Peter Taglianetti Celebrates 20 Year Anniversary of Stanley Cup Victory
PITTSBURGH (Sportsradio 93-7 The FAN) -- Former Penguin Peter Taglianetti joined Seibel, Starkey and Miller on Sportsradio 93-7 The FAN and revisited the Pens Stanley Cup victory 20 years ago and what it's like for him on the anniversary of it. Peter said the first thing that comes to his mind when thinking about that win 20 years ago is that he's really getting old.
The 1991 season was very strange for Peter because he played for three different teams and eventually ended up in Pittsburgh where he got to lift the Cup at the end of the season. In the final game of that series, Peter had two assists and was tied with Mario Lemieux for best plus/minus rating. When asked if he was the star of that game, Peter kidded with the guys and said in his eyes, he always will be the star of that game.
Peter also told us about a tremendous moment inside the locker room during that series where "Badger" Bob Johnson lost his temper for one of the rare moments he allowed that to happen, and Peter said it was the moment that actually put everyone at ease and got them back on track.
We wrapped things up with Peter talking about what it was like coming back after winning the Cup and how chaotic things were.
