Bicyclist Struck By 2 Vehicles, Killed In Fayette County
DUNBAR TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- An unidentified man died early Friday morning after he was struck by two vehicles in Fayette County.
It happened around 3:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Route 119 in Dunbar Township.
According to police, a 27-year-old man from Burlington, North Carolina was riding a bicycle on Morrell Avenue close to Route 119 in the northbound direction.
Another driver from McClellandtown, couldn't see the bicyclist because he didn't have lights or reflective clothing. The driver unknowingly hit the bicyclist.
A man was playing cards with some friends across the street and heard the initial crash. When he went outside to help, he saw something shocking.
"I heard tires squealing and I walked outside. I saw a car stopped and I went over to try and help them get their car off the road. He said he hit something in the middle of the highway. When I started walking down I said, 'Oh you must have hit a deer.' As I started to get closer, I saw a body. I got even closer and another car came flying up and went right, centered over – I mean, God bless whoever it is and God bless their family," Jason Stasko said.
Route 119 was shut down for several hours as police took measurements.
Police have not charged the driver of the first car.
No other information has been released at this time, but State Police are investigating.
