Overnight Snow Leaves Messy Roads
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Yet another round of snow moved across the area overnight and into late Saturday morning.
A Winter Weather Advisory was in effect overnight for several areas, including Cambria, Greene, Indiana, Somerset and Washington counties.
"Flurries and light snow showers working all the way from Interstate 80, all the way down to the Pennsylvania-West Virginia state line and points further south," said KDKA Meteorologist Jeff Verszyla. "It's not going to be a heavy snowfall, it's just going to be a persistent snowfall during the overnight period."
Around 9 a.m. Saturday, some Pittsburgh roads were still untreated.
Areas further south were expected to get more snow.
"In terms of accumulation, as you work your way further north, there'll be less in the way of accumulation," said Verszyla. "Near the Interstate 80 corridor, less than an inch. One to two inches in and around the heart of Allegheny County and points close by. And then you get south of I-70 – Uniontown, Waynesburg, Morgantown – two to four inches. And especially closer to that four, maybe five inch number as you work your way across the highest elevations of the Laurels."
However, the rest of Saturday is expected to be mainly dry.
"Certainly, 12 hours from now, by 11 o'clock [Saturday] morning, we'll be in cleanup mode as the snow showers will likely taper off and end sometime early to mid-morning [Saturday]," said Verszyla Friday night.
Saturday is expected to be brisk and cold with a high of 28 degrees.
