People Head Back To The Mall For After-Christmas Sales
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The season of giving is over and now shoppers will head to the store to shop for themselves.
Many stores plan to open early Thursday, offering big discounts.
It's also a popular day for returns and exchanges.
At 6 a.m., cars were already starting to fill up the parking lots outside of the Mall at Robinson.
Dick's Sporting Goods was also open at 6 a.m. Thursday, as was Kohl's – most of which opened up around 5 a.m.
Many of these stores are also offering steep discounts.
"Oh they're very good," said Jessica Ellis. "We got some scores obviously."
"We got a couple of things, but we don't go hunting for them," said Ashley DeMattio. "But you know, if we stumble upon something ... if you can't pass it up, you can't pass it up. Might as well get it."
However, lots of red "sale" signs posted throughout the mall didn't make it very difficult to find a deal.
The National Retail Federation has been keeping track of sales throughout the last month. And despite there being six fewer days between Thanksgiving and Christmas, they're expecting sales to be up by 3.9 percent this year.
However, around mid-morning, there seemed to be a steady stream of shoppers, but no mad dashes to find the best after-Christmas deals.
It could be due to the fact that many retailers are also having sales online, including web-busters and even starting discounts on Christmas Day.
Additionally, if you plan to make any returns or exchanges, some retailers change their return policies around the holidays.
