Pens Sign Sullivan To One-Year Deal
Pittsburgh (KDKA)- Pens GM Ray Shero didn't waste any time in replacing Jaromir Jagr and Max Talbot.
The Pens have signed veteran forward Steve Sullivan to a one-year deal worth $1.5 million.
"To me, Steve Sullivan is a good fit for us," Penguins general manager Ray Shero said during a press conference at the CONSOL Energy Center today.
"(Sullivan) is a pretty dynamic player still," Shero said. "Looking at what we're trying to do is improve our power play. (Sullivan) is a guy that can potentially help us there. (He's) a right-hand shot that plays the off side, and can play up high as well. He has really good speed, and a very smart player."
Sullivan, 36, has spent the past five seasons with the Nashville Predators. The veteran forward appeared in 44 games this past season for Nashville, collecting 10 goals, 12 assists and 22 points.
Sullivan has played in 890 career games with the New Jersey Devils, Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Blackhawks and Predators.
Sullivan has always been a good offensive player scoring 266 career goals, 416 assists and 682 points.
A 5-foot-9, 161-pound forward, Sullivan missed the entire 2007-08 season due to a severe back injury.
In other Penguin news, forward Mike Rupp has signed a 3-year, $4.5 million with the NY Rangers.
