Pens Reflect On Emotional Game In Boston
BOSTON (KDKA) - The Pittsburgh Penguins pulled out a 3-2 win Saturday afternoon against the Boston Bruins, in a game that was rescheduled because of an extensive manhunt on Friday.
Players said the game felt like the playoffs as the Bruins had extra fight in them.
Less than 12 hours after authorities caught the second suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings, fans and players on both sides of Saturday's Penguins-Bruins game came together as one to remember the lives lost.
"I think any human being would find some type of emotion in that pre-game video and the memory where they were showing the victims. I think for whatever reason it slowed us down and energized the Bruins more than it did us," Brooks Orpik said.
Chris Kunitz was seen before the game sporting a Boston Strong T-Shirt where 100 percent of the proceeds from the shirts benefit "The One Fund Boston."
Other players were wearing Boston Police Department and Watertown Police Department hats that also benefit the same foundation.
