Staal's Suspension Rescinded, Tangradi Called Up

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The injury woes for the Pittsburgh Penguins grew both before and during Tuesday's win over the New York Rangers.

During the morning skate, center Mark Letestu suffered a lower-body injury and did not play against the Rangers.

Forward Arron Asham left the game after suffering an upper-body injury and did not return.

As a result, the Penguins have recalled forward Eric Tangradi from their AHL affiliate in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Tangradi has played nine games with the Penguins this season and registered one goal and two assists.

He currently lead the Baby Pens in goals (18) and ranks fourth on the team in points (32) in 42 games.

Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin are also injured. Crosby has missed the last 10 games, while Malkin has missed the last four.

Jordan Staal was to be suspended one game for punching Brandon Prust Tuesday night. He was assessed a five-minute match penalty, which carries an automatic one-game suspension.

However, the NHL rescinded the suspension and Staal will be available to play for the Penguins against the Islanders tonight.
