Pens Raise $53K For One Fund Boston
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – An online auction by the Pens fetched more than $50,000 for the One Fund Boston fund.
The team raised $53,000 by selling Penguins jerseys from the April 20 game against the Boston Bruins. The jerseys had patches reading "617," which is the area code for Boston.
One Fund Boston gives money to the victims of the Boston Marathon tragedy.
"Immediately after the Fund was created, the Penguins Foundation collaborated with the Boston Bruins Foundation to hold separate auctions benefiting the cause," the team said in a statement.
The auction ran online from April 22 to May 13.
