Pens Lose To Maple Leafs, 3-2 In OT
TORONTO (KDKA/AP) – A road victory slipped away from the Penguins with a 3-2 overtime loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs last night.
The Pens were the first to score when Matt Niskanen put one in the net at 6:52 in the first period, with assists from Ben Lovejoy and Pascal Dupuis.
Nikolai Kulemin got a wrister past Marc-Andre Fleury at 14:04, to tie it 1-1 by the end of the period.
The Penguins took their second lead of the game when Chris Conner scored a backhander on Leafs goalie James Reimer at 6:40 in the second, making it 2-1.
The Pens held that lead until 5:07 in the third when Phil Kessel got a tip-in with assists from Carl Gunnarsson and Tyler Bozak, to tie it at 2-2.
That goal eventually forced overtime where Mikhail Grabovski scored on a snap shot set up by Kessel and Gunnarsson.
The Pens had 29 shots on goal. Fleury had 17 saves.
