Pens Look To Put Game 1 Loss Behind Them
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Surprised the Penguins couldn't hold on to a three-nothing lead in game one of their Quest for the Cup last night? So were the Flyers.
"You usually don't win games like that in the playoffs," said Flyers left winger Scott Hartnell.
"We got lucky yesterday," said Flyers' Kimmo Timonen.
So the job for the Penguins today was to make sure the Flyers' luck runs out.
"Today you come to practice, and try to adjust or make changes, things you want to do better going in the game tomorrow, but we know that game's over and we gotta make sure we're better," said Pens Center Sidney Crosby.
"Definitely not fun when you give up a three-nothing lead, but we just have to find a way to let go and be prepared for the next game," said Pens Center Jordan Staal.
Still, it's important to figure out what went wrong in game one; a game the Penguins seemed well on their way to winning after one period.
"When we had that three-nothing lead we really just stopped doing those little things that you need to do," said Crosby.
"Maybe we were pushing a little bit too hard for the fourth goal instead of worrying about the three goal lead and how we got that," said Penguins' Steve Sullivan.
Among the specifics the Pens worked on at practice was improving the power play which was 0 for 3 Wednesday night. The Penguins have just one power play goal in the playoffs dating back to 2010 against Montreal.
