Pens Fall To Flyers, 3-2
PHILADELPHIA (KDKA/AP) -- The Penguins tried to make a comeback, but came up short against the Philadelphia Flyers, 3-2 Thursday night.
The Flyers held a 3-0 lead in the second period when Evgeni Malkin set up a power play goal for James Neal at 14:10.
Malkin then scored at 8:21 in the third to make it 3-2.
Danny Briere, Wayne Simmonds and Scott Hartnell each scored for Philadelphia.
The wasted series of the game came in the first when Pittsburgh failed to score on a 5-on-3.
The Penguins appeared to catch a break when Max Talbot, playing against his former team for the first time, was helpless after he broke his stick to essentially give them a three-man advantage.
Instead, they got nothing.
Pens Captain Sidney Crosby did not make the trip. After taking some hard hits during Monday's game against the Boston Bruins, he said he wasn't feeling 100 percent.
Crosby, who is expected to workout on Friday, will also sit out of Saturday's road game against the Islanders.
