Pens Defenseman Mark Eaton Breaks Down Play Of Bruins
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - In an anticipation of the Eastern Conference Finals, Mark Eaton joined Starkey, Miller and Mueller on Sports Radio 93-7 The FAN to talk about what sort of challenges they'll face against the Bruins.
"The strength of their team is their depth and their size and their physicality and they play such a structured game. They like to play a lot like we do," said Eaton. "They like to get pucks behind the defense and grind them down in their offensive zone. As 'D,' we want to spend as little time in our zone as possible and get the pucks up to our forwards and let them do their thing."
Eaton also addresses their playoff opponents so far this year and if there is a style of opponent they'd prefer to face.
"I think we were able to play a more quote-unquote normal game against the Senators. The Islanders threw some things at us that we hadn't seen a lot of, so it kind of took us to game five or six to get comfortable and figure certain things out. We've seen enough of Boston and we know what they like to do with their structure," he said. "As players, you don't pick your opponents, you don't have preferences. We're just going to prepare for what Boston likes to do and do our best against that."
Things wrapped up with Eaton talking about what affect the goalie change has had on them as a team and whether or not any of the younger defensemen look to him for his veteran presence.
