Pens Analyst Caufield: Crosby Is 'One Play' Away From Breaking Out
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - The Pittsburgh Penguins are on the brink and ROOT Sports Penguins analyst Jay Caufield joins Vinnie & Cook to break it down on Sportsradio 93-7 The Fan.
Despite Boston's 3-0 lead in the series, Caufield explains why he's not ready to completely write off the Penguins.
"Just [Sidney] Crosby and [Evgeni] Malkin alone, when you have those type of players, at any given moment you have a chance to win," Caufield says. "And if they can get to [Boston goalie Tuukka] Rask just a little more, you start putting doubt in people's minds. It's going to be a tough haul, but if there's one team that can do it, this would be the team that can do it."
Sidney Crosby may not be on the scoresheet to this point in the series, but Caufield doesn't think Crosby is that far away from breaking out.
"Sometimes it takes one play," Caufield says. "Look at a one-timer that Dupuis had and that great setup for Letang. If those two are buried, he's got a couple of points, Penguins win the game, and now we're starting to talk about Sidney Crosby getting on a roll. I think he just needs something like that to jump start him."
