Pens Acquire D Murray From Sharks
PITTSBURGH (KDKA)- A day after trading for Brenden Morrow, the Pittsburgh Penguins have landed a big defensive defenseman.
According to the Penguins' official website, the Penguins have acquired Douglas Murray from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a second round pick in the 2013 and 2014 NHL Draft.
Murray is currently in his eighth year in the National Hockey League and has only played for the Sharks.
At 6-feet-3-inches and 245 pounds, Murray will add some size and grit to an already solid blue line corps for the Penguins.
Don't expect Murray to chip in a whole lot on offense – that's not his game. In 451 career games, Murray has six goals and 53 assists to go along with 361 penalty minutes.
To make room for Murray on the roster, the Penguins have sent Trevor Smith back to their AHL affiliate in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
There are certainly other roster moves coming with Kris Letang currently on injured reserve, while he recovers from a lower-body injury.
