Pennsylvania opens registration for rare whiskey lottery
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pennsylvania is opening registration for a lottery awarding winners the chance to purchase from a stash of over 4,400 bottles of rare whiskeys.
Residents and licensees have until 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27 to opt into the limited-release lottery, which will feature six products in five lotteries.
The whiskeys range in price from $54.99 to $289.99. The most expensive bottle is the Heaven Hill Heritage Collection Straight Corn Whiskey 20 Year Old 2023 Edition.
The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board says participants can opt into one or more of the lotteries but will be removed from subsequent drawings if they win the right to purchase a bottle.
The limited-release lottery allows the Liquor Control Board to equitably distribute its most popular and limited availability products, according to Fine Wine & Good Spirits' website.
After previous lottery winners tried to illegally resell products they bought, the Liquor Control Board is reminding residents that selling alcohol without a license is strictly prohibited under state law.
Residents and licensees interested in entering have to have an active account with FWGS.com with billing information on file. All items will be delivered to physical locations, and only lottery entrants will be able to pick up bottles after showing a valid ID.
The drawing will be held the week of Oct. 30. Winners will be randomly selected and participants will get an email when the lottery is complete.
