Latest Poll Has Trump And Clinton Winning Pa. Primary
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- If next year's April primary were held today, Pennsylvania Republicans would pick Donald Trump as their nominee.
The latest Quinnipiac Poll gives Donald Trump 24 percent with Ben Carson at 13 percent, Marco Rubio at 10 percent, Carly Fiorina at 7 percent and Jeb Bush at 5 percent.
At La Bella Bean in Bridgeville, KDKA political editor Jon Delano found lots of different opinions.
"Donald Trump. Donald Trump," insisted Dino Guarino of Upper St. Clair.>>
"Slight edge to Bush but still undecided," noted Joe Barack of Scott.
"Jeb Bush or Carly Fiorina?" Jon Delano asked.
"Carly, definitely," responded Karen Scheboth of Upper St. Clair.
"Donald Trump or Dr. Ben Carson?" Delano asked another.
"I believe Dr. Ben Carson," responded Scott Schafer of Canonsburg.
On the Democratic side, it's Hillary Clinton with a strong lead at 45 percent over Bernie Sanders at 19 percent and Joe Biden at 17 percent.
"Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton?" Delano asked Sally Colussy of Dormont.
"Hillary Clinton," said Collusy.
In the match-up race for an election still more than 14 months away, Clinton narrowly defeats Trump in Pennsylvania, 45 percent to 40 percent with 9 percent volunteering they wouldn't vote.
Why Hillary?
"I think she gets a bad rap about a number of things," adds Collusy.
If the Republicans nominate Jeb Bush, Clinton wins by only three points, but she loses the state to Republican Marco Rubio by seven points if he's the nominee.
While Scranton-born Biden loses the state to both Bush and Rubio, Biden beats Trump by a bigger margin than Clinton, 48 to 40 percent.
Interestingly, Biden is one of the most liked candidates in the race, according to Quinnipiac, while both Trump and Clinton have high unfavorable ratings with voters.
Some 55 percent have an equal -- unfavorable -- rating of both Trump and Clinton.
Now this poll -- like all the others -- is way too early to predict anything. Pennsylvania's primary is ten months away.
