PennDOT Announces Weekend Parkway West Restrictions
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) –Drivers beware - a full closure of the inbound Parkway West and the inbound Fort Pitt Tunnel is in store for this weekend.
There will also be restrictions on the outbound Parkway West.
According to PennDOT, the closures will begin at 9 p.m. Friday and will run through 11 a.m. Sunday.
During the closure, crews will conduct shoulder reconstruction work on the Parkway. They will also continue ceiling removal in the tunnel.
The Parkway will be closed between Green Tree/Mt. Lebanon interchange and the Fort Pitt Bridge. This includes the Fort Pitt Tunnel as well.
Inbound traffic will be detoured and police will be placed at key intersections to help traffic flow.
The posted detour is as follows:
Inbound (eastbound)
- All inbound traffic will take the Greentree (Exit 67) off-ramp
- Turn left onto Greentree Road
- Greentree Road becomes Wabash Street
- Turn right onto South Main Street
- Turn right onto southbound Route 837 (West Carson Street)
- Take the ramp to East I-376/North I-279 onto the Fort Pitt Bridge
- End detour
As for the outbound side of the Parkway West, crews will be working on repairing the deck of a bridge over Poplar Street.
As a result, traffic will be reduced to one lane near the Green Tree/Crafton (Exit 67) interchange. All outbound traffic will exit at the Green Tree/Crafton exit.
Those wishing to continue along the Parkway West will get back on the roadway via the Poplar Street onramp.
The outbound restrictions will also be in effect from 9 p.m. Friday through 11 a.m. Sunday.
