Penn Hills Man Facing Drug Charges After North Side Pursuit
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A Penn Hills man is facing a long list of charges after police say they found 1,700 bags of heroin in the car he was driving following a high-speed vehicle chase and foot pursuit on Pittsburgh's North Side.
The suspect, 33-year-old Victor Pinkston, is charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, fleeing or attempting to elude police, receiving stolen property, reckless driving, resisting arrest and other traffic violations.
According to Pittsburgh Police, it all started just before 6 p.m. Wednesday when officers spotted Pinkston's vehicle going the wrong way on Sheffield Street.
When they tried to pull him over, police say he took off. The high-speed chase went into the Northview Heights section of the city where the vehicle was eventually blocked in on Hazlett Street by some concrete barriers.
Police say when Pinkston got out of the vehicle, he then took off on foot. But police caught up to him and he was taken into custody a short time later.
He was taken to the hospital and treated for facial injuries after falling to the ground, police said.
Following the arrest, investigators say they found more than 17,000 worth of heroin, more than $1,000 and two cell phones in the vehicle, which was later reported as stolen.
