Uber Driver's Tip Leads Police To Suspect Vehicle In Fatal Hit-And-Run In Penn Hills
PENN HILLS (KDKA) -- A break in the case of a fatal hit-and-run in Penn Hills came Friday morning.
An Uber driver called in a tip to the Allegheny County Tip Line and said he spotted a car that matched the description released by police.
Ulysses Coto called KDKA Radio's Lynne Hayes-Freeland and also shared the news. He said he spotted the car, a silver-blue Saturn sedan, in the parking lot at the Hi View Gardens Housing Complex in McKeesport.
Coto told KDKA's Meghan Schiller that he was waiting to pick up an Uber passenger and noticed the car in the last parking spot back by the dumpsters. He said it "looked like someone had ditched it."
"When I got in the parking lot, the car just didn't seem right. It was sitting there for a couple days 'cause I'd been there previously," Coto said.
He believes that he saw it there this past Monday as well.
"I just got out and took a check 'cause if I was wrong, I'm wrong, but if I'm right, that's a good thing," Coto said.
He walked around the car and quickly spotted damage.
"I saw there was damage clearly on the windshield, damage on the hood and on the bumper, and [I] just took a couple pictures," Coto said. "If you see something, say something. That's exactly how it should be."
Detectives now believe that Saturn sedan is the car that hit and killed 51-year-old Joseph Morris as he walked home from work along Hershey Road on April 28.
The car dragged Morris for just over one-half mile and down to Universal Road in Penn Hills.

A $13,000 reward is being offered for any information.
"Oh, definitely that would help [my family], but it wasn't the reason for me reporting it. It was about getting closure for the family," Coto saiad.
Coto is a father of six.
We expect to hear much more from Allegheny County detectives.
