Man Fatally Shot Multiple Times In Penn Hills
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Police are investigating after a man was fatally shot in Penn Hills.
Pittsburgh Police got ShotSpotter alerts around 2:11 Monday morning in the 1200 block of Blackadore Avenue. At the same time, Allegheny County Dispatch got calls for shots fired at that location.
Sam Taylor, who lives next door to where the shooting happened, said he heard four shots.
"These guns are getting out of control," he said from his front porch. "Makes no sense."
Since the road is close to the Pittsburgh and Penn Hills line, both police agencies responded and found the 48-year-old man, who has been identified as Curtiss Eugene Meeks Jr., lying next to an SUV in the road.
"I knew there was some trouble then," Taylor said.
"They put those yellow ropes around, so you know when they put those all-around there's trouble."
Police said the victim had multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene in front of the house he lived in.
According to neighbors, the house was the victim's girlfriend's and the victim stayed there often.
"I hate to see her hurting like that. She was really tore up about it," Taylor said.
Police found more than 10 shell casings at the scene. They found them in the intersection of Blackadore Avenue and Robinia Drive. They have no motive for this shooting and no suspects.
"We believe it is going to be more than one person," Allegheny County Police Lieutenant Ken Ruckel said at the scene.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner has not released the name of the victim.
"In the 9 years I've been here, we've never had that much trouble at all. I hope I don't have any more because that's not a good thing to have," Taylor said.
Police are asking anyone who saw or heard anything to alert police.
