Penn Hills Crash Kills 2 People

PENN HILLS (KDKA) -- An early morning accident in Penn Hills claimed the lives of two young adults and injured several others.

The one-vehicle crash happened in the 3000-block of Universal Road when the driver of a Toyota sedan lost control of the vehicle on a curve.

The car struck a wall, went airborne, flipped over into a driveway and bounced into a tree. At least one of the victims was thrown from the car.

The driver and a rear-seat passenger died in the accident. Officials have identified them as Christopher Schuffert, 22, and Julian Wilson, 21, both of Penn Hills. Authorities have not indicated who was driving the vehicle.

Three other passengers were taken to Pittsburgh-area hospitals but their conditions have not been released. They have been identified as Jay Wilson, Brandey Turba and Juliet Barbati.

Investigators say they believe speed played a role in the accident; now they're trying to determine whether alcohol may have been involved.

Police want to talk to survivors about what was going on inside the car before the crash.
