Penguins Top Rangers, 3-1
NEW YORK (KDKA/AP) -- The Penguins kept their winning streak alive, beating the New York Rangers, 3-1 on the road Monday night.
Maxime Talbot pounced on a turnover in the Rangers' end and scored on a wrist shot with an assist from Pascal Dupuis at 5:10 in the first to make it 1-0.
In the second period, Sidney Crosby extended his point streak to 13 games by getting an assist on Kris Letang's goal at 12:01. Dupuis got his second assist of the night on the goal.
Chris Conner put the Penguins ahead 3-0 just over a minute later. Tyler Kennedy and Alex Goligoski had assists.
The Rangers scored with less than four minutes left in second period when Marian Gaborik got an snap shot past Marc-Andre Fleury to the short side. Fleury made 25 saves in the game and improved to 8-0-1 in his last nine starts.
Fleury has been in goal for every game during the Pens' streak except for Saturday when Brent Johnson beat Calgary on the strength of Crosby's hat trick that included the captain's 200th NHL goal.
The Penguins, 9-0-1 in their past 10, haven't lost since falling to the Rangers at home in overtime on Nov. 15. Their previous loss in regulation was Nov. 11 against Boston. It is the Penguins' longest winning streak since another seven-game run from Oct. 8-23, 2009.
Crosby has 12 goals and 14 assists during his point streak. He is the league's scoring leader with 41 points, two more than Tampa Bay's Steven Stamkos.
