Pittsburgh Penguins Stanley Cup Parade Set For Wednesday
PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) - The Pittsburgh Penguins are Stanley Cup champions and just like last year, there's going to be a big parade in downtown Pittsburgh!
According to officials, the parade will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m.
City officials made the announcement Monday just after the team arrived back in Pittsburgh.
The parade will follow the same route as last year's parade, beginning on Grant Street at Liberty Avenue, the players will then travel down Grant to the Boulevard of the Allies, and from there it's on to Commonwealth Place.
Different this year, the players and personnel will then speak on a stage set up in Point State Park. They are just excited for the parade as the fans.
"See all the people on the streets. We are waiting for you guys," said Patric Hornqvist.
"Can't wait to see all you guys at the parade. You guys are the best," Carl Hagelin added.

Last year, the Penguins also clinched the Cup on a Sunday and the parade was held the following Wednesday.
About 400,000 fans lined streets downtown for that parade, the biggest celebration for any of the team's five Stanley Cup championships.
This year's could be even bigger, so there are some things to keep in mind. Get to town early. Barricades will start going up Tuesday night. Also, follow the weather it could be very hot and humid with possible showers.

Other details were still being finalized Monday and will be announced later.
Including the Port Authority. Officials there say they are working to re-route many bus routes for the celebration.
City Operations Manager Guy Costa says if you can't get into Downtown for work before 9 a.m. you may want to make other arrangements.
"If you are going to come into down after 9 a.m., we recommend maybe parking on the North Side, South Side, walk over the bridges...take the subway, find different options," said Costa.
Costa also said after the roads start closing, driving Downtown will be limited.
