Penguins, Spaling Agree To 2-Year, $4.4M Deal
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Pittsburgh Penguins have avoided arbitration and agreed to a two-year deal with forward Nick Spaling Thursday morning.
According to the team's official website, the deal is worth an average annual value of $2.2 million.
In 297 career games with the Nashville Predators, Spaling scored 40 goals and added 44 assists. Last season, he scored 13 goals and 19 assists in 71 games.
Spaling was acquired along with Patric Hornqvist at the NHL Draft in exchange for James Neal.
Spaling figures to help bolster the Penguins' bottom six forwards, which will help fill one of the team's biggest needs from last year.
The Penguins still have not reached an agreement with RFA Brandon Sutter.
