Penguins Sign Brian Strait
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) -- The Pittsburgh Penguins and defenseman Brian Strait agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way contract Monday.
Strait will make $605,000 at the NHL level.
Strait played in nine regular season games and three playoff games with the Penguins last season. He was a plus-3 in the playoffs, which is impressive considering the defensive collapse that occurred in a six-game loss to Philadelphia in the first round.
Strait is considered to be a defensive-minded, stay-at-home defenseman. With a plethora of young talent on the blue line, he'll be fighting a bunch of other players to make the starting lineup out of training camp.
