Penguins Recall Eric Tangradi
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — The Penguins called up winger Eric Tangradi from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League Thursday evening.
He'll join the team for Friday night's game against Dallas.
Tangradi leads the Baby Penguins in goals (7) and is second in points (12) through 12 games this season. His seven goals are the 10th best total in the AHL.
Pittsburgh needs an extra forward given the current injury situation. Sidney Crosby has been ruled out for Friday and Saturday, and Tyler Kennedy is a game-time decision as he recovers from a concussion.
All that combined with the Penguins' recent trade of Mark Letestu to the Columbus Blue Jackets caused general manager Ray Shero to recall Tangradi.
Tangradi is coming off a two-goal performance Wednesday night in a 4-2 win against Norfolk.
Tangradi has played 16 career NHL regular-season games, compiling three points (1G-2A).
