Penguins Re-Assign Despres To AHL
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – After a big win over the Buffalo Sabres on Friday, the Pittsburgh Penguins returned a rookie defenseman to their American Hockey League affiliate.
According to the Penguins' official website, the team sent defenseman Simon Despres back to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins Saturday morning.
Despres had been called up along with Brian Strait due to the injuries to Kris Letang, Ben Lovejoy and Matt Niskanen.
Niskanen returned to the lineup Friday against Buffalo and Despres was a healthy scratch.
In 18 games with the Penguins this season, Despres has one goal, three assists and is a plus-5 rating.
Pittsburgh's next game will be Sunday when they host the Philadelphia Flyers at 12:30 p.m.
