Bellerive signed a three-year entry level contract with the Penguins in 2017 after having an outstanding performance at the team's annual rookie tournament.
He went on to play for the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the WHL.
Bellerive was reportedly attending a bachelor party just outside of Calgary when a fire broke out. Bellerive, one other Hurricanes player and a former Hurricanes player were hurt.
"Our ambulance was called to a rural area where we intercepted a private vehicle that was transporting three individuals," Nate Pike with Alberta Health Services said. "We treated those three individuals on scene. All three were transported to the hospital. Two of the individuals were in serious but stable condition. One of them was in potentially life-threatening condition."
The Penguins confirm that Bellerive was not the patient facing life-threatening injuries.
