Penguins' Fans Excited Heading Into Stanley Cup Playoffs
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The regular season is over, and the Penguins begin their quest for the Stanley Cup tonight when they host cross-state rivals the Philadelphia Flyers at CONSOL Energy Center.
There are rivals and then there are bitter rivals, and the Flyers are one of those.
The Flyers and Pens played six times in the regular season, and Philly was dominant. But now, the slate is clean.
Ahead of tonight's game, a "Ground the Flyers" rally was held at the Allegheny County Courthouse for fans.
"We are healthy for a change going into these playoffs and things are looking good. Las Vegas has us favored to win, and I can believe it," said Pens' fan Don Zadach, of Jefferson Hills.
Games 1 and 2 will be played here in Pittsburgh before heading east for Games 3 and 4.
"I think it's going to be close because, obviously, they have a lot of quality players on their team as well," said Pens' fan Judy Faranda, of the North Side.
"It doesn't matter; Philly's a minor league team. We're going to get by these guys here. We're going to move on,' Zadach added. "Lord Stanley is coming back to the 'Burgh."
The puck drops at 7:38 p.m.
