Pelosi Event Protested In Pittsburgh
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi attended an event in Pittsburgh.
While she was met with cheers on the inside, outside a group of people protested.
Pelosi spoke to female, mostly Democrat, union steelworkers. She told the audience the country could not go back to what she called the failed policies of the Bush administration.
"The Republicans say if they took over, they would go back to the exact same agenda," she said. "We are not going back. We are not going back."
She said Pennsylvania would be one of the most important states in the upcoming election.
Meantime, KDKA's Jon Greiner reports a small group of protestors taunted Pelosi supporters in the convention center, saying it's time for Democrats to stop blaming the Bush administration for current economic troubles.
"If Obama really wanted to do something, he could do something and he's not doing it," Cheryl Whitehouse, a protestor, said. "He's making it worse as far as I'm concerned and [Pelosi's] not helping matters."
Keith Rothfus, the Republican running against Congressman Jason Altmire, agrees Pennsylvania will be important in the election.
He says the people of Pennsylvania will have something to say about what he called the failed economic policies of Altmire and Pelosi.
