PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Officials say a woman has died after being hit by a shuttle bus in Oakland.
Pittsburgh Public Safety says the woman in her 70s was hit by a UPMC bus near the intersection of Buffalo and Terrace streets on Thursday around 3:30 p.m. Police say when they arrived, a nurse was performing CPR on the victim.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner identified the woman as 76-year-old Mary Flaherty.
Flaherty was then taken to a local hospital, where she died.
"She passed away, which is terrible because I cross this street almost every time when I come to class. That could have easily happened to me," said Carlow University graduate student Cameron Zapadka.
Police say the Flaherty was hit in the road as the bus turned left onto Terrace Street from Buffalo Street. A witness told KDKA off-camera that he saw the vehicle's side front tire drive over the woman.
The driver of the shuttle bus remained on the scene. It is unclear if the driver will face charges.
