Paul Martin Passed Up Ray Shero Offer To Be Traded During Off-Season
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Penguins Defenseman Paul Martin sat down with Joe Starkey of Starkey, Miller and Mueller on Sports Radio 93.7 The FAN to talk about the opportunity he was given by Penguins General Manager Ray Shero during the off-season to be traded to another team.
Martin said he wasn't interested in the trade offer because he wanted to redeem himself after the poor season he had.
"It wasn't anything that was out of the ordinary," Martin said. "What I said is I'd rather have a great season here than get traded and have a good one somewhere else. For me, it was an easy decision. I came here for my reasons and to win a cup with the team that we have in here."
Martin also talked about how playing alongside Brooks Orpik has helped improve his game this year and his level of interest in playing for Team USA in the next Olympics.
