Paul Chryst Talks About Helping His Young Players Mature
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – Pitt football head coach Paul Chryst joined "The Fan Morning Show" for a special Friday edition of his weekly spot to look ahead to the Panthers' Saturday night road matchup against Virginia.
Chryst told the guys that it has been refreshing to prepare for a new game after the Iowa and Akron losses.
"I think the great thing about the game is you still got to do it each week," Chryst said.
He explained that it's important to be patient with a young team and not expect everybody to mature at the same rate.
"For me- our oldest daughter, she was in kindergarten, and we're worried as parents, are we doing enough? Is she reading right?" Chryst said. "I called my aunt who's a kindergarten teacher and wanted to get the tips and make sure that we were doing everything and she told me, if I take the whole kindergarten class, line them up at one end of the playground, and say go to the other end of the playground, they'll all get there. Some will skip, some will run, some will meander -- as long as players care, and we keep teaching them, they'll get to where they need to be- some a little bit faster, some it takes a little bit more time."
Chryst usually joins "The Fan Morning Show" Thursdays at 7:20 a.m.
