Paul Chryst Indulges In Guilty Pleasure, Discusses Upcoming Season
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – Taking part in what he once called his "guilty pleasure," Pitt football head coach Paul Chryst joined "The Fan Morning Show" on Tuesday to talk about training camp and the state of the program as he enters his third season at the helm.
He told the guys that there's something special about this time of year.
"Camp's a fun time for us," Chryst said. "There is no more summer school. Classes haven't started yet. So, we truly can just kind of lock in and focus on football."
He said that red-shirt sophomore quarterback Chad Voytik is in a good place entering what should be his first season as a starter.
"I think he's getting energized," Chryst said. "He knows the time is now. When you learn, with that knowledge comes more of a thirst for more knowledge, and that can be energizing. That's what I sense from Chad."
As for his freshmen, he says that he isn't necessarily holding them to the lofty standard set by standout wide receiver Tyler Boyd last season.
"Tyler, the year he had- that's pretty good for a senior," Chryst said. "Do we have another guy that's going to impact like that? I don't know, and it wouldn't even be fair even if I thought that you'd put that on a guy like that."
He also had some fun with Gregg Giannotti over Gregg going to the Miley Cyrus concert last night.
