Paul Chryst Excited For Opportunity To Play Notre Dame
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan)- Pitt Head Coach Paul Chryst joined The Fan Morning Show on Thursday morning to preview Saturday's primetime showdown with Notre Dame at Heinz Field.
We all remember what happened last year at South Bend as Pitt gave No. 3 Notre Dame quite a scare, but could not hold a 17-6 fourth quarter lead and fell 29-26 in a triple OT.
Chryst is telling his team that this year is a clean slate. What happened that day will have nothing to do with what happens this year. He says he can't hide the fact that it still stings.
"We had an opportunity and we didn't get it done," Chryst said. "We have had a great week of practice this week and the guys are really looking forward to Saturday."
The Panthers (4-4) will be looking to get back in the win column after two straight tough losses, including one two weeks ago at Navy. Notre Dame is coming off a nail-bitter against Navy last week winning 38-34 in South Bend.
The Panthers and Irish (7-2) are set to kick off at 8 p.m. Saturday at Heinz Field.
"It's going to be a great atmosphere," Chryst says. "The guys are excited."
Chryst also talked to the guys about senior Aaron Donald, who is having a tremendous season. Chryst told the guys he is doing what he should be doing - playing the best ball of his career during his senior season.
Chryst says the Panthers have asked him to come up big all season and he has been there every time.
