Paterno's Family Wants Penn State To Release All E-mails
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Joe Paterno's family is calling on investigators to release all e-mails and documents related to the Jerry Sandusky scandal.
Through attorney Wick Sollers, the family says leaking of selected e-mails intended to "smear" Penn State officials, including Paterno.
E-mails reported by CNN between former Penn State President Graham Spanier, former Vice President Gary Schultz and former Athletic Director Tim Curley, seem to indicate that Paterno may have influenced University officials in their handling of the Sandusky situation.
CNN reports that in the e-mails, the men discussed reporting Mike McQueary's claim that he saw Sandusky in the shower with a boy.
But Curley reportedly wrote in one of the e-mails that after speaking with "Joe" he had changed his mind.
The Paterno family statement reads, in part: "With the leaking of selective e-mails over the last few days, it is clear that someone in a position of authority is not interested in a fair or thorough investigation."
The Paterno family is calling for all e-mails to be released to paint a complete picture.
The statement goes on: "Given the seriousness and complexity of this case, everyone should be demanding the full truth, not just carefully selected excerpts of e-mails."
