Paterno Injured At Practice
Pittsburgh (KDKA)- Penn State head coach Joe Paterno was injured yesterday during a team practice.
According to Blue & White Illustrated, Paterno suffered a fractured pelvis and a fractured shoulder.
Penn State University announced today that Paterno was undergoing tests at a local hospital on his right arm and hip.
Paterno says in a statement: "I expect to be back at practice
soon. I'm doing fine; tell everyone not to worry about me."
Dr. Wayne Sebastianelli, Penn State director of athletic
medicine, says in a statement that it doesn't appear surgery will
be required.
Back in 2006, Paterno was injured in a game vs. Wisconsin after getting chopped down along the sideline by Wisconsin's DeAndre Levy and Penn State's Andrew Quarless.
In 2008, Paterno attempted to demonstrate an onside kick to his players and severely hurt his hip. For the rest of that season, Paterno coached the team from the press box.
Paterno, who will turn 85 on December 21st, is entering his 46th season as Penn State head coach.
