Paterno Family To File Lawsuit Against NCAA

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Joe Paterno's family plans to file a lawsuit again the NCAA because of sanctions levied guest Penn State University.

Family, members of the Board of Trustees, faculty and former players and coaches said the Freeh Report is wrong.

The lawsuit filed in Centre County Court asserts the NCAA's President Mark Emmert and former chairman of the NCAA Edward Ray acted in clear violation of their own organization's rules when they imposed sanctions against the university's football team.

The lawsuit claims the university-sponsored investigation into the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal was flawed, incomplete and inaccurate.

Joining the lawsuit are several past and present Penn State board members and former football players. The suit is an attempt to have all sanctions against the school lifted and to have Paterno's career win record reinstated.

The suit calls for compensatory damages to be paid to the Paterno family estate for legal fees and other costs.

The rest of the money would to a yet to be named charity.
