Restrictions Remain In Place On I-70 In Westmoreland County
ROSTRAVER (KDKA)- A portion of Interstate 70 is back open, but it's still slow moving.
Crews in Westmoreland County are working to repair a support that started crumbling into the westbound lanes. They were working through the rain overnight to remove the old wall.
I-70 is down to one lane in both directions between Route 51 and Route 201.
PennDOT is now trying to figure out how to get the wall back up and keep it from falling again.
The issue was where I-70 crosses over the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railroad in Rostraver Township.
Police reopened one lane of I-70 westbound around 7 a.m.
Before that, drivers were forced to exit I-70 at Exit 46, which is Route 51.
The detour took them down Route 51, to Finley Road, which runs right alongside I-70. Drivers were then routed back on to I-70 at Exit 43, which is Route 201.
The restrictions could be in place for a considerable amount of time.
PennDOT is asking motorists to drive with caution in the area, and to always be alert when entering a work zone.
