Parents Of Slain W.Va. Girl Call Off Protest
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Monday morning - David and Mary Neese planned to protest outside the Greene County Coroner's Office on West High Street in Waynesburg out of pure frustration.
The body of their murdered daughter still has not been released for burial.
The stabbing death of Skylar Neese of Star City, W.Va., is so dark and so twisted that few could believe what happened in July of 2012 , the 16-year-old "straight-A" honor student climbed out her bedroom window at the James Place Apartments to meet two-friends.
One of them, Rachel Shoaf, also 16 years old, later pleaded guilty to second degree murder in plotting to kill Neese with another, still unidentified, juvenile girl.
In January, Shoaf told police in Monongalia County that Neese's body was about 30 miles away in the woods in Wayne Township, Pa.
In an eleventh-hour Facebook post, Mary Neese said they cancelled their plans to protest after being reassured that they will be able to see their child's body within a week.
The coroner told Neese's parents he still has more tests to run.
When KDKA-TV asked Coroner Gregory Rohanna for a comment he would only say "No comment on any active case at this time."
