Parents: Daycare Worker Sat On Bean Bag, Suffocating Toddler
WEST JORDAN, Utah (KDKA) -- A 2-year-old boy is dead in Utah after a daycare worker reportedly sat on a bean bag chair, suffocating the child.
According to CBS affiliate WHP, police say it happened at West Jordan Child Center. Leo Sanchez crawled under a bean bag and was there while a worker read stories to the other children for five to 15 minutes, according to his mother.
Police are reviewing surveillance video that allegedly depicts the incident, and reportedly confirmed to KUTV that the worker did sit on the chair, not realizing the boy was underneath.
"How could this happen?" the boy's mother said. "He's a big boy. How did they lose track of him? Too many kids, too much noise, overwhelmed, a bad day ... Somebody dropped the ball and now we're going to have to bury a boy because of that."
His mother said Leo would lift everyone's spirits and can't imagine how he slipped under beanbag & died at daycare. pic.twitter.com/MXkzxly1iX
