Paramedic Testifies In Accused Cop Killer's Trial
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The jury in the Ronald Robinson trial on Friday heard more recordings from police dispatch calls the night Danyal Morton and Penn Hills Police Officer Michael Crawshaw were killed.
The recordings included calls from frantic neighbors and from police officers called to the scene who did not hear from Crawshaw after he radioed that he was turning onto Johnston Road to respond to the initial call.
Neighbor: "Oh my God!"
Dispatcher: "Ma'am? Hello?"
Neighbor: "I'm sorry."
Dispatcher: "Ma'am, I've been sitting on hold this whole time trying to find out what's going on."
Neighbor: "I'm sorry. The police are here, said somebody shot one of our Penn Hills cops."
Dispatcher: "Okay, do you know if he's breathing?"
Neighbor: "No, I don't know. I want to go up to the car, but the police... There are other police that are here now and called an ambulance."
Earlier, Officer Crawshaw radioed he turned onto Johnston Road at 8:25 p.m. Nobody heard from him after that. His designation was 1352.
Audio Recording: "1352 County status check. Where you at?"
Also on the stand Thursday morning, Penn Hills paramedic Paul Huska, who was first to attempt to treat Crawshaw.
Huska had to pause and collect his emotions before he testified about Crawshaw's condition.
Crawshaw was a friend of his.
"He was slumped slightly forward with a cavernous hole in his face above the left eye," Huska said with tears in his eyes. "He was motionless. He looked lifeless."
Huska pronounced Crawshaw dead.
On Monday, testimony resumes with a ballistics expert who will try to retrace the steps of Ronald Robinson.
