Package From Wexford Man Sends Bomb Squad To Limbaugh's Home
PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) -- A suspicious package sent the bomb squad to conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh's home in Florida Thursday, and police say the item in question reportedly came from a local man.
The package was reportedly found outside of Limbaugh's Palm Beach home.
The bomb squad was called in to investigate, and eventually determined it was not dangerous or hazardous.
According to a report from the Associated Press, a Palm Beach police spokesman says Limbaugh's staff members saw what appeared to be wires in the unsolicited package and called the police.
Officers asked the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office bomb squad to investigate it and they determined it was safe to open.
The Associated Press reports Palm Beach police spokesman Fred Hess said the item turned out to be an electronic plaque sent by one of Limbaugh's listeners as a proposed "business opportunity." It reportedly concerned the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln by John Wilkes Booth.
Investigators say the package was addressed from a man in Wexford, Pa.
According to Palm Beach police, they contacted the Wexford man, and he said he was sorry for the misunderstanding and any problem it may have caused. He has not been identified.
Authorities in Florida say no charges will be filed against the sender because no crime was committed, the Associated Press reports.
There has been no comment from Limbaugh on the situation.
