Pa. Senator Proposing "Dream Act" Program For Children Of Illegal Citizens
PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) -- Authorities on immigration are now looking to educate illegal citizens instead of building bridges to keep them out.
Many young children were brought over to America illegally by their parents, they are victims of their situation.
So the question becomes, if they're living in our country illegally and want to attend college, should we let them? Then, if they do go to college, should the receive money from a government?
Republican State Sen. Lloyd Smucker is now proposing a program called the "Dream Act" to Pennsylvania.
The act would extend in-state college tuition rates to students who were brought as children to the United States.
On Wednesday afternoon, KDKA Radio's Mike Pintek spoke with the Senator about his ideas on the "Dream Act."
