Ottawa Sun's Tim Baines: I Don't Know How They Did It
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) -- Ottawa Sun sports columnist Tim Baines joined Tab Douglas on Sunday to talk about the latest buzz in Ottawa as the Senators prepare to face the Penguins in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
Baines explained that, while the Senators may look wildly outmatched in this series, they've been defying expectations for a while now.
"It's amazing that the Senators are even in this position," Baines said. "I don't know how they did it."
Baines offered an update on star center Jason Spezza, who skated with his teammates for the first time today since having back surgery in December.
"I wouldn't expect to see him," Baines said. "For sure, he could play in the series. I don't think we'll see him for the first couple of games ... there's no way he's ready."
Baines also praised Sens' goalie Craig Anderson for his strong recent play, and explained that Sergei Gonchar has turned from a disappointment into one of the Sens' most valuable players during his three years with the team.
