Orpik Sidelined 4-6 Weeks
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The injury bug continues to crush the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Already missing their top two offensive players, the team learned today they'll be without their top defenseman for a long period of time.
The X-rays on Brook Orpik's injured right hand came back this morning and showed that he'll be sidelined for the next four to six weeks. He reportedly has a broken finger.
He was injured in the first period of Wednesday night's game attempting to block a shot while killing a penalty.
If the prognosis is accurate, Orpik would return to the lineup just as the Pens get ready for the playoffs.
The team did receive some good news today as injured defenseman Paul Martin returned to practice. He missed the last two games with an upper-body injury.
Injured forward Chris Kunitz once again skated individually before practice and is awaiting clearance from the team to participate in practice.
